Subject : **UPDATE ** HOT NEWS: Export Airfreight – Security update from 1st March 2019

Dear Valued Client,

Reminder to all exporters from the 1st March 2019 all export shipments being sent via airfreight will need to be examined before it can be accepted for uplift.  All cargo will need to be examined at piece level.

Packing requirements and additional costs for  International shipments excluding consolidated bookings to New Zealand

Homogenous goods (Refer note below) need to be loaded on pallets with a maximum size of 122 x 122 x 150 cms (LWH).

Non-homogenous goods need to be lodged separately with all packages labelled and ready for x-ray screening.

If your shipment is too large to fit through the x-ray machine an Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) will be required. For large single piece items a physical inspection and ETD will be required.  Repacking costs may be incurred, refer to costs below.

CTO Screening at Qantas/Menzies/ DNATA

If you declare your shipment as Homogenous and it is lodged at the CTO and it is found to not be Homogenous, there will be a rejection fee charged of $25.00.  A rejection may be because the x-ray machine cannot see a clear image of your goods or because your cargo is not homogenous, in this case the cargo will be rejected and a secondary screening will be required.  A secondary screening may require the shipper to visit the CTO to open the package to enable the CTO to physically inspect the cargo using the ETD.  Your shipment may also need to be returned to you to re-label all packages if packed on a pallet or skid (if not already individually labelled).

If the secondary shipment requires the package to be opened shipper will be responsible to re-pack the package after inspection.

Cost for screening;-

Primary X-Ray screening            @              $0.13 /kg

Minimum                                                                        $20.00

The same requirements as outlined above are applicable for consol shipments to New Zealand being booked with AMI.  The xray fee is slightly higher as shown below.  The other difference is that AMI have a smaller X-Ray machine, shipments cannot exceed 120 x 120 x 120 cms (LWH).

If your shipment is Non-Homogenous (mixed goods on skid) and AMI need to break down your skid/crate to X-Ray your goods there will be X-Ray repacking charges incurred, as outlined below.
